Is TGM Skateboards Legit?

Is TGM Skateboards Legit?

If you found this page, you’re probably Googling something like “Is TGM Skateboards legit?” or “Why is TGM so cheap?”

Fair question.

We get phone calls about this all the time. Someone sees a price on our site and thinks “there’s no way that’s real.” Skateboards, trucks, wheels… sometimes our prices look almost suspiciously low.

So here’s the deal — yes, we’re legit, and we’ve actually been doing this for a long time. We run a real skate shop with a physical storefront and a warehouse, and we’ve been part of the skate industry for years.

The real question isn’t whether we’re legit.

The real question is how we’re able to sell skate gear so cheap sometimes.

Let’s break it down.

We Buy Closeouts

One of the biggest ways we get good pricing is buying closeout inventory.

Brands, distributors, and manufacturers sometimes need to move inventory fast. Maybe they’re making room for new product lines, maybe a licensing deal expired, or maybe they just produced more than they sold.

Instead of sitting on it, they sell that inventory in bulk — and that’s where we come in.

When we buy something cheaper, we pass that price along to you. Simple as that.

We Actually Manufacture Some of the Brands

A lot of people don’t realize this, but we manufacture several of the brands we sell.

That includes brands like:

  • Moose Decks

  • Black Diamond Grip

  • Core Trucks

  • Amp Bearings

  • Krown

  • Paradise

  • Dime Bag Hardware

When you buy something from one of those brands, it’s not going through three or four middlemen.

It’s basically manufacturer → us → you.

Less overhead in the supply chain means lower prices for skaters.

We Pre-Book and Buy in Bulk

Another big factor is pre-booking and bulk purchasing.

Pre-booking means we commit to buying product before it’s even manufactured. This helps brands plan their production runs and removes some of their risk.

Because of that, they often give us better pricing incentives.

The same goes for bulk orders. If we’re bringing in a lot of something, manufacturers usually cut us a deal — and when possible, we pass those savings on.

Sometimes We Just Bought Too Much

Not every buying decision is perfect.

If something sells out instantly, that means we probably didn’t order enough.

If something sits around for a while… that means we ordered too much.

When that happens, we discount it to move inventory. Sometimes heavily. Sometimes even at a loss.

Not ideal for us — but great for you if you catch the deal.

We Bundle Products Together

You’ll notice we sell a lot of kits and bundles.

There’s a reason for that.

Shipping is expensive, but once something is already going in a box, adding a few extra items usually doesn’t change the shipping cost much.

For example:

  • Trucks ship in a box

  • Wheels, bearings, and hardware can often fit in the same box

  • A deck ships in a long box — and adding griptape doesn’t really change the shipping cost

Since we offer free shipping on orders over $10, bundling products helps us save on shipping and pass those savings along to you.

Why Isn’t Everything Dirt Cheap?

Because the skate industry needs to survive.

If every shop raced to the bottom on pricing, brands wouldn’t be able to support their teams, pay riders, or fund new product development.

Many brands also enforce MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policies. MAP keeps pricing consistent across shops and protects the brands and riders who depend on those sales.

Breaking MAP rules usually means you lose the ability to sell that brand — and we’re not interested in playing that game.

So yes, some items will always be close to retail price.

That’s just part of keeping the skate industry healthy.

The Bottom Line

If you’re wondering whether TGM Skateboards is legit, the answer is simple:

Yes.

We’re skaters running a real skate business with a physical storefront, a warehouse, and long-standing relationships with brands across the industry.

We also sponsor skaters and run a shop team, which is something that has always been important to us. Supporting riders and helping them progress is part of what keeps skateboarding alive. Shops that care about skateboarding put money back into the scene — and for us that means backing the people who are out there actually skating.

Sometimes our prices are low because:

  • we buy closeouts

  • we manufacture some of the brands

  • we buy in bulk

  • we bundle products

  • or we just need to clear space in the warehouse

But at the end of the day, our goal is simple:

Get good skate gear into the hands of skaters for the best price possible while still supporting the skate community that makes all of this possible.

If you still have questions, feel free to give us a call or stop by the shop. We’re always happy to talk skateboarding.
